About Charlotte Rørth
After my debut as a journalistic author with “I met Jesus”, which has been published in six countries, I have worked writing books, giving lectures and organizing courses and retreats, as well as hosting programs about faith on DRK, DRP1, Radio4 and others.
I am a journalist, graduated from the Danish School of Journalism in 1987, and have worked as a business and IT journalist at Center for Ledelse, Jyllands-Posten, Børsens Nyhedsmagasin and until 2018 at NORDJYSKE Medier, focusing on existence and culture and organizing the literature festival Ordkraft.
I’m the big sister of six and grew up in Gentofte and Boston, among other places. After 20 years in the countryside near Rold Skov, I now live in Aalborg with my husband, Uffe Westerberg.
We are parents to three sons, 1988, 1991 and 1992-2014.

Then, my first book, “I Met Jesus”was published on January 30, 2015, I have published “We met Jesus” i 2017, “God, You’re Right Here” in 2019, “With a straight back”, 2021, and “The Jesus Calendar”, 2022.
I have given hundreds of lectures, been in all Danish and several of the leading foreign media, published the books abroad and been on bestseller lists for several periods.
It has been far from only those who are normally interested in faith and religion who have read and listened – and spoken. According to Jyllands-Posten (link) the success of the debut book was due to the fact that as a “quite ordinary, secularized Danish woman” I come across “something extremely uncommon”, I retain the journalistic virtues; “open-mindedness, curiosity and observational skills”.
And that’s how I continue to work. Also when I hold retreats. It’s the immersion that is in focus. I know how important it is. I have learned this from the many meetings I have had over the years with those of you who have had experiences and those who have not, with those who believe and those who doubt and all of you who just want to know more about how to live with faith today. Try a retreat with others who want to move on. I can’t live without them. That’s why I do them.
I’m also working on several projects about speaking freely about faith. I write books and give talks about what I have experience and knowledge of, and am not interested in convincing anyone of anything – except the duty to listen and the right to speak.
Many, perhaps as many as 75 percent of us, have spiritual experiences during our lives similar to the ones I surprisingly had and still have. Whether you seek them out or have them come flooding into your life, as they did for me, you have to work hard to figure out how to live with them.

Reading list
A lot of people help me with a lot of things. Some of them teach me through books. Some of the people who make me smarter are listed below.
It is constantly updated with books that push the way I think and believe, live and behave. Some of them provoke me, others are more peacefully mind-expanding.
Some comfort, others increase my compassion for others. They all make a difference to me.
And no, they are not reviewed and referenced, because it is the richness of seeing the many people who want to tell us something through books that I want to pass on in the first place. We also don’t read the same, so these books will make a different difference to others than to me. They also change for me over the years.
Looking down the list makes me want to re-read quite a few of them, and I want to read new ones.
